The Oceanique Story

~ Est. 1989 ~

In 1989, Mark opened Oceanique in its present-day Evanston location, a charming 1920s Spanish-style building. Mark, with his wife Renée as our General Manager and son Philíppe as our Wine Director, continue to offer discriminating diners some of the most creative and exquisite seafood and meat dishes prepared in the French tradition, with a modern American twist.

Oceanique has been consistently ranked as the number one seafood restaurant in the Chicago metropolitan area by the prestigious Zagat Guide since 1993.

Over the years wine has become more than an addition to the Oceanique experience, but a beautiful companion to our fine cuisine. It is our very distinct pleasure to offer you some of the finest wines in the world.

Our cellar not only holds some 800 selections at a precise 57° and 64% humidity, it strives to offer something special for every dish, every person, and every occasion.

Every month, Oceanique prepares a special fixed-price wine dinner featuring a handful of exquisitely chosen wines, usually from the same producer, region, or distributor. We welcome the opportunity to provide you with an exceptional culinary experience by matching great food with great wine!
